I’ve always had incredible support in my life, especially from my mom, who’s been my number one source of love and encouragement. An incredible artist who creates everywhere she goes.

My sister and cousin are both amazing artists that inspire me to create. I still have a painting that my niece made, so many artists in my family pushing me to keep going. My aunt has also played a vital role in shaping who I am today.

When I was 18 and struggling, she opened her home to me, offering a place of peace and creativity. It was in her basement, surrounded by paint and laughter, that I discovered the healing power of art.

Her gentle encouragement led me to see art as more than just a hobby—it became my outlet. It was a way to express what I couldn’t say with words. Even though I chose the military over an art career, her influence never left me. Now, as I am about to take studio art classes, I’m reconnecting with that part of myself that she helped awaken.

Through every challenge, my aunt has been a steady source of support. She still believes in me, reminding me not to be nervous as I take this creative step. It’s not about perfecting my art; it’s about embracing it again, about survival and growth.

The biggest lesson my aunt has taught me is simple: Patience & Kindness.
